Welcome at Mhofu

​We’re delighted that you’ve chosen Mhofu! We hope you’ll have a wonderful and relaxing stay here. To ensure that you and future guests can enjoy the property and the surrounding area to the full, we’ve set out a few practical guidelines.
We ask that you treat the property, the surrounding area and the facilities as you would at home. That way, we can keep Mhofu a lovely place for everyone.

Arrival & Departure

 

Check-in

You are very welcome at Mhofu from 14:00. The standard check-in time is between 14:00 and 17:00.

If you’re arriving at a different time, please let us know in advance. We’ll be happy to discuss the options with you.

 

Check-out

On the day of departure, we ask you to vacate the property by 10.00 am at the latest. This gives us enough time to get everything ready for the next guests.

 

Before you leave, we ask you to:

• Place used towels and bed linen in the designated laundry basket;

• Leave crockery, glasses and kitchen utensils clean;

• Take rubbish to the designated area;

• Put furniture and other items back in their original places;

• Close windows and doors properly and lock them where necessary;

• Switch off air conditioning, fans and any unnecessary lighting.

 

We will then take care of the final cleaning.

A pleasant stay for everyone

Mhofu can accommodate up to 6 people. We want to ensure the property remains pleasant and comfortable for everyone. Therefore, only those listed on the booking are permitted to stay overnight in the property.

 

Would you like to have visitors during your stay? That’s lovely, of course, but please do let us know in advance. Overnight stays for additional guests are only permitted by prior arrangement.

It is not permitted to organise parties or events in the property.

 

Please look after Mhofu

Mhofu has been furnished with great care and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

 

If anything unexpected happens during your stay, such as damage or a fault, please let us know as soon as possible. In most cases, we can resolve the issue quickly.

 

Any damage or loss occurring during your stay that is not the result of normal wear and tear may be charged to the tenant. This also applies to damage caused by visitors.

 

If a security deposit applies, this will be discussed with you prior to your stay. Any costs for damage may be deducted from this deposit.

Water & energy

Water is a precious resource in South Africa. We therefore ask you to use it sensibly and sparingly. A leaking tap or any other water problem? Please let us know straight away.

 

We also ask you to use electricity sensibly. When you leave the property, please ensure you switch off the air conditioning and fans, and do not leave lights or other appliances switched on unnecessarily.

 

In South Africa, temporary interruptions to the water or electricity supply can occur. Unfortunately, we do not always have control over this. We hope for your understanding should this happen during your stay.

 

The braai

A braai is, of course, an essential part of any stay in South Africa! 🔥

 

If you use the braai, we ask you to do so safely and with care:

Always keep a full bucket of water next to the braai.

Be mindful of the wind and your surroundings.

Never leave a burning or still-hot braai unattended.

Use the braai only in the designated area.

Clean the braai thoroughly after use.

Make sure the coals and ashes have cooled completely before disposing of them.

 

Swimming pool

Above all, enjoy the swimming pool and the warm South African days. We do, however, ask you to bear in mind your own safety and that of others.

 

Children may only use the swimming pool under adult supervision. Running or any other behaviour that could lead to accidents is not permitted around the swimming pool.

 

For safety reasons, glassware is not permitted in the pool.

Peace & quiet & the local area

Mhofu is a place to enjoy the peace and quiet, nature and each other’s company. We therefore ask you to be considerate of the local area and any neighbours.

 

Loud music, noisy activities and parties are not permitted. Between 22:00 and 07:00, we ask everyone to be particularly considerate of others’ sleep.

 

Smoking & Pets

To keep the property fresh and pleasant, smoking is not permitted indoors.

 

Pets are not permitted at Marloth Park.

 

Safety

Naturally, we want you to feel safe and comfortable at Mhofu.

 

When you leave the property, please ensure that all windows and doors are securely locked. Do not give keys to others and please report any problems or unsafe situations to us as soon as possible.

Cancellation

We understand that plans can sometimes change. That is why we have the following cancellation policy:

More than 60 days before arrival: you can cancel your booking free of charge.

30 to 60 days before arrival: 20 per cent of the total cost of your stay remains payable.

Less than 30 days before arrival: 100 per cent of the total cost of your stay remains payable.

If you leave early during your stay, we are unfortunately unable to offer a refund for the unused nights.

 

Cancellations can be made by email. We recommend taking out suitable travel and cancellation insurance when booking.

 

Finally

We hope that your visit to Mhofu will be, above all, a chance to relax, make wonderful memories and enjoy all the beauty that South Africa has to offer.

 

Please treat Mhofu as if it were your own holiday home, enjoy your stay and leave it in good condition for the next guests.
